Homeland

This battle no longer takes place. This was an early reenactment in the history of Florida WWII reenacting. I think the photos I have are 1996 & 1997, but I'm not 100% sure on that. The scenarios for these were all the same, it was near the Elbe River in 1945 and the Americans were driving towards the Russians with us Germans in the middle. The first battle was pretty good, but the limited terrain really put an end to this one after just a few times.

Rocky & I on grassHere you can see the Rock and myself hiding in the tall grass with the camera towards where the battlefield was. Even though this is just a straight up poser pic, I really like it. I have had a vet & a WWII historian tell me that they think this photo looks like Poland 1939. Not exactly Germany 1945 that this event was supposed to be, but I just like the thought of looking like an original scene. Of course, our uniforms are totally wrong for 1939, but only some people would notice that. It also goes to show how soldiers can still use terrain in relatively open territory for concealment.

king of the hill

Here you can see Mike Dwyer (Mickhail Ehrhardt) who is now dead (not really dead, just reenacting dead.) He was killed in action (not really, he just quit coming to reenactments.) Anyway, below Mike is a Czech halftrack trundling off to do some damage after it has been made up to look like a Sdkfz 251/1. You will also notice that Mike is wearing a camo smock. This is in part because Mike was a real weenie when it came to heat, but also in part because the 43rd in the early years used lots of the Army camo patterns. We later determined that Heer troops would have had precious little of these uniforms and we excised them from our acceptable uniform list since our goal is to portray the average, rather than exceptional soldier.

Hey, may I see some more pictures from other events?
